. it's 11:00, do you know where your children are? >> now, abc 2news at 11. many. >> when you get a picture of your car ands and from the state you would like to do what with the speed cameras? but you haven't thought of this. >> what we are about to put on your phone tonight could be the seconds you need to save your child's life. . >> and it's time to toast baltimore. it's a beer drinking town and tonight starts beer week and what a way to bring in the weekend early. abc 2news at 11 starts right now. >> ever get own of these? it's your car. it's a ticket from one of those speed cameras that have been springing up. >> annoying, frustrating, expensive but would it drive you to commit a crime? we are live, it may have possibly happened this week.

>> reporter: it happened tuesday night. they got a call from a person who said they saw a person in a truck using a chain to attach their truck, one of those speed cameras. then they ripped the camera right out of the ground. something missing in front of sparrow's point high school. >> it amazing me. i didn't realize it was gone. >> reporter: you can see the base of what used to be a speed camera here along north point road. >> must have been someone who got a lot of tickets. >> reporter: all police know is that late tuesday night someone in a white truck stopped here, attached a chain to the camera and then gunned the engine. >> it's the first time we have had one of them throw destroyed like thisser. >> reporter: you can see the tire tracks and the ruts of the camera. >> someone was upset about getting a citation i guess. they didn't have a police officer here so they took it out on the camera.

>> reporter: it's not the first time it's happened. back in july a man came out of the woods near the airport and used a hammer to damage a vehicle mounted speed camera. that case remains unsolved. in the baltimore county case the vandal had no way of know that camera had already been deactivated. the plan was to move it to a new spot. >> the camera wasn't operational. it wasn't issuing citations, it was just there because they hadn't removed the physical camera yet. >> reporter: that also means there is no photographs of the truck or the vandals leaving police with not much more than a description of the truck which some say might make it hard to solve the case. >> everybody got a pickup truck and chain. >> reporter: the charge could bring a 2,500-dollar fine and three years in prison. if you know anything about this case you are asked to call the county police department. live in baltimore county,abc

2news. >> new tonight after 12 years on the job baltimore county superintendent joe harrison say this is year will be his last. he made the announcement late this afternoon. he is out west and scheduled to return to townsend tomorrow. no reason is being given but on tuesday the board voted not to give him a new four year deal. his last day will be on june 30th of next year. under his leadership schools have seen rising achievements. >> police are look for a person who shot a woodlawn man. he was found dead on tuesday outside his home. his name is ronald gibbons. he was shot several times. someone called the police the night before saying they heard shots. still not clear if the two incidents are related. >> we don't know whether that call was connected to this homicide, but it's something that the investigators looking at. >> right now police don't have any information on a suspect or possible motive.

>> a 20-year-old woman had no choice but to jump. she came face to face with a pair of robbers and then took a leap out of her second story window. this happened at the windsor mill apartments. she broke her ankle and her wrist. police are looking for two armed men with a crowbar. we spoke to the woman who protected the woman after her jump. she doesn't want to be identified. >> whoever broke in thought that nobody was home. she was bleeding, her ankle is swollen and her wrist. >> neighbors say about a month ago someone tried to break-in to another home across the street. a man and a pregnant woman there have since moved out. police were trying to determine if there is any connection. >> we have a shooting in charles village. similar to another murder that shocked all of us last year. earlier this morning a man was robbed in the 2600 block of st. paul street and the victim gave up everything he had but the suspect still shot him.

the scene just steps from where a man was stabbed during a robbery last year. police are asking neighbors if they saw anything. >> the shooting that happened this morning was -- before 6:00 a.m. people were going to work, they 53 have heard something. we are asking them to call the police. >> in an effort to reassure residents police are increasing patrols, if you have seen anything you know anything about this shooting, call police right away. >> weather watch today we had just really great weather and that's going to hold up next several days in to the weekend. crisp and chilly tonight. check out some of the numbers in the 40s in frederick, york, low 50s, baltimore, easton, again, it's a crisp chilly night on the way but a nice rebound tomorrow. we are back into the mid70's late in the afternoon and this set the estimate for a much more dramatic warm up in to the

too. that's a favorite for some people. >> it's a wealth of information just like their website is. it's a more portable format that provides information pertaining to your child's health. >> reporter: not just mom, seniors see it as a useful tool at home and in school. >> think we could incorporate the use of the apps into a daily routine here at clinic because not all schools have full time medical people. they don't all have a nurse. >> reporter: what about something for those emergency that pop up? that's where the ice app. >> in case of emergency and it's really a place where you can enter in a wealth of information about your family's medical history. you can put in insurance information, blood type, allergies. >> reporter: even an app from the fbi that lets you store information about your child in case he or she goes missing. they have one word of caution, make sure the fob phone and the apps are protected with a password. >> you need to be caution about the information you are

70s. outer suburbs, places north and west, westminister, there you look for more mid-70s tomorrow. north and west crystal clear. to the east clear, and the entire earn seaboard krystal clear tonight. coset to it in october and the fall. the giant high pressure cells and that's what we have on top of us right now. big dome of air, think of the high pressure area like this as a weather good guy. keeps the weather good and actually as we see this thing slide further east tomorrow, start to get the wrap around flow, winds will start to come out of the south. that's a warmer breeze, should begin to push temperatures up. you can see the highs today down toward atlanta, charleston up above 80 and we are looking for that here as we go into the columbus day weekend. category one hurricane, almost a category two, felippe packing winds to 90 but this is about 500-miles bermuda and heading northeast away from the island
